Edit Florist & Wholesaler Information

Florist & Wholesaler Information

  • Long lasting, ALL chrysanthemums (mums, disbuds, spray poms) last up to 10 to 12 days.
  • Single stemmed disbudded mums available in standard commercial mum, spider mum and cremon types.
  •  Disbuds should meet minimum grading standards (see Grading Info).
  • We find that the painted disbuds are performing much better that  the ones dyed by absorption. The absorption process seems to dry out the foliage and increase the problems with botritis growing during shipping.

Grading Information

  • Bunched by 10 stems.
  • Minimum 75 cm stem length.
  • Bloom size should be minimum 10 cm diameter on Mums and Spider Mums.
  • Some popular new varieties of Fuji Mums such as  Anastasia Green have smaller blooms than their white, yellow and lavender counterparts. Usually a minimum 7cm bloom diameter.
  • Cremons should have a minimum bloom size of 8 cm. ( some novelty disbud varieties may have smaller blooms)

Grower and Breeder Information

  • Leading Breeders (2010) : C.B.A, Deliflor, Dekker , Fides, Royal Van Zanten,  and Yoder Bros.
  • Assorted boxes of daisy or cushion types should be packed approx 50% white, 25% yellow, 20% pink, 5% novelties.
  • Assorted boxes of dutch novelties should contain 50% pink, 30 % yellow, 15% white, 5% novelties.
  • Color assortments must be adjusted seasonally with more white for Xmas , bronze for Fall, and more lavender for Spring.
  • There is increasing demand for novelty red / bronze varieties on a year round basis and these should not only be planted for the Fall season.
  • Boxes destined for export must be clearly identified with quantity, variety name, colour mix and grade.
  • Bunches should be well hydrated before shipping as chrysanthemums dehydrate easily in transit.
